Serenity Wellness CentreWelcome to Serenity Wellness Centre. These Terms & Conditions outline the rules, expectations, and responsibilities that apply when you book and use our services, visit our premises, or engage with our business online. By making a booking or purchasing a product/service from us, you agree to these terms.

General Terms & Conditions
1. Liability Waiver
General Service Waiver
At Serenity Wellness Centre, your safety and wellbeing are our highest priority.
Before participating in any of our services, you must read, understand, and agree to the relevant service waiver. These waivers outline important safety information, participation requirements, and our policies.
By booking or participating in any service, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted the applicable waiver in full.
Important – Please Read Before Booking or Using Our Services
By booking or participating in any treatment, therapy, class, or session at Serenity Wellness Centre, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
All services are voluntary, and you choose to participate at your own discretion. You agree to provide full and accurate information about any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or concerns before treatment begins.
You acknowledge that certain services may carry inherent risks, including but not limited to muscle soreness, skin reactions, dehydration, or aggravation of pre-existing conditions, and you accept full responsibility for any outcomes resulting from your participation.
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, you release Serenity Wellness Centre, its owners, staff, and contractors from any liability for injury, loss, or damage that may occur before, during, or after your session.
In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, you authorise Serenity Wellness Centre staff to seek medical assistance on your behalf, and you accept responsibility for any associated costs.
By attending your appointment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
Sub-Section 1.1 – Float Therapy Waiver
Float Therapy Waiver
We are delighted to welcome you to Serenity Wellness Centre. We want every guest to have an amazing and safe experience. Please read, understand, and agree to the following policies before participating in float therapy.
Amenities Provided

Towel, washcloth, ear plugs, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash

Hair dryer and private shower

Lounge area with filtered water in compostable cups
Facilities
Our float rooms are purpose-built to minimise external noise, light, and smell. Please help maintain a serene environment for all guests.
In Case of Emergency
-
An air horn will sound 3 times to indicate an emergency.
-
Exit the float cabin quickly but safely.
-
Follow illuminated fire exit signs and gather in the front car park.
Due Care
-
Surfaces may be wet as they are cleaned between each session.
-
Use safety features such as grab bars and textured flooring to prevent slips.
Water Filtration Process
After each float, the water is sanitised through:
(1) Primary particle filter
(2) Hydrogen peroxide
(3) UV filtration
(4) 1-micron filter
Fees
-
Float sessions are 60 minutes, with extra time for showering before and after.

Fees vary by package and may change at any time.
Cancellation Policy
-
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.
-
Less than 24 hours may result in a 50–100% session fee charge.
You Must Not Use Float Therapy If:

You have not showered and removed oils, creams, or makeup
-
You are more than 37 weeks or less than 12 weeks pregnant
-
You have had hair colour/treatment or a new tattoo within the last 10 days
-
You are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
-
You have an infectious skin condition, open sores, or communicable disease
-
You have uncontrolled diabetes
-
You are experiencing a genital outbreak of a communicable disease
-
You are having a heavy menstrual period
-
You have kidney disease or risk of involuntary bodily fluid release
-
You have not received medical clearance for relevant health conditions
-
You need to use the toilet
-
You have vertigo and have not informed staff
Contamination Fee
-
Violation of rules resulting in water contamination may incur a salt replacement fee of up to $2600.
Waiver & Release of Liability
By booking or participating in float therapy at Serenity Wellness Centre, you acknowledge that:

You are using floatation therapy of your own free will
-
You release Serenity Wellness Centre, its owners, and operators from liability for any injury occurring during your session or while on the premises
-
Serenity reserves the right to refuse service at any time
Please Note:
If you are unable to enter or exit the float tank safely without assistance, we recommend you do not participate in this service.
Sub-Section 1.2 – Massage Waiver
Massage Waiver
Massage therapy is provided for the basic purpose of stress reduction and relief of muscular aches and pains. Please read the following before your session.
During Your Massage

If you experience discomfort or pain, inform your therapist immediately so adjustments can be made.

Massage therapists are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments or provide medical diagnosis or prescriptions.
Medical Conditions
-
Massage is contraindicated in certain medical conditions.
-
You must provide accurate and up-to-date medical history before treatment.
-
Inform your therapist of any changes to your health before each session.
Privacy
-
No medical or personal information will be shared without your consent unless required by law or if the therapist believes your health or life is at risk.
Professional Conduct & Behaviour
-
Serenity Wellness Centre operates a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of inappropriate, sexual, abusive, or offensive behaviour towards staff.

Any such behaviour will result in immediate termination of the session with no refund and possible permanent ban from the premises.
-
Inappropriate behaviour may also be reported to authorities if necessary.
Cancellation Policy
-
$25 cancellation fee if cancelled less than 12 hours before appointment
-
$50 cancellation fee if cancelled less than 2 hours before appointment
-
No refund if you miss your appointment entirely
Waiver & Release of Liability
By booking or receiving massage therapy at Serenity Wellness Centre, you confirm that:

You understand the benefits and risks of massage therapy and give consent
-
You accept there is no liability on the part of the therapist if you fail to disclose health information
-
You release Serenity Wellness Centre and its therapists from liability related to your massage session
Sub-Section 1.3 – Sauna & Ice Bath (Cold Plunge) Waiver
Sauna & Ice Bath (Cold Plunge) Waiver
The use of infrared saunas and ice baths may have many health benefits; however, it is important that you fully understand how to correctly use these services if you are participating in hot and cold therapy.
General Guidelines

Build resilience over time and gradually expose your body to both hot and cold therapy.
-
We do not recommend using the ice bath for longer than 7 minutes continuously at a time.
-
A suggested protocol you could work towards:
-
5 min Cold Plunge (or less if you’re new)
-
15 min Sauna
-
2 min Cold Plunge
-
10–15 min Sauna
-
Finish with 1–2 min Cold Plunge
-
-
Breathe through the process, focusing on elongating your exhale.
-
Shower before using the sauna or cold plunge to maintain cleanliness.
-
Stay well-hydrated before and after sauna use (water or electrolyte drink).
-
If you feel dizzy, in pain, or uncomfortable, discontinue use immediately.
-
Avoid standing up too quickly after a session.
Medical & Safety Advice
Self-treatment of any condition with the sauna or ice bath is not recommended without direct medical supervision. Please consult your doctor before use if any of the following apply:
Cardiovascular Conditions, Diabetes, or Obesity

Hypertension/hypotension
-
Congestive heart failure
-
Impaired coronary circulation
-
Use of medications affecting blood pressure
-
Pacemaker or defibrillator use
Medication Use

Some prescription or over-the-counter drugs can impair your body’s ability to regulate heat, e.g.:

Diuretics
-
Barbiturates
-
Beta-blockers
-
Antihistamines
-
Alcohol & Drug Use
-
Do not use sauna or cold plunge under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“Sweating out” a hangover is unsafe and not recommended.
Chronic Conditions Affecting Sweating

Multiple Sclerosis

Central Nervous System Tumours
-
Lupus
-
Diabetes with Neuropathy
Bleeding Conditions

Avoid use if you are prone to bleeding (e.g., haemophilia).
Other Contraindications

Fever or heat sensitivity
-
Recent joint injury (within 48 hours)
-
Enclosed infections
-
Metal implants, rods, or artificial joints (consult your surgeon if unsure)
-
Pregnancy (consult your doctor)
-
Elderly individuals with reduced ability to regulate temperature
Waiver & Release of Liability
By using the sauna or ice bath at Serenity Wellness Centre, you acknowledge and agree that:

It is not advisable to use infrared saunas or ice baths under certain medical conditions.
-
You are solely responsible for monitoring your body’s reaction and determining if use is appropriate.
-
You are responsible for your safety and wellbeing during use.
-
Extra care must be taken to avoid slips, falls, or overexposure to heat or cold.
-
You release Serenity Wellness Centre, its staff, and representatives from all claims or liabilities for injury, accident, or death during use.
-
You agree to shower and clean yourself before using the equipment.
-
You will not misrepresent your health condition or ability to use these services.
-
This waiver applies to all future sauna and ice bath sessions unless revoked in writing by either party.
-
It is your personal responsibility to consult with your doctor regarding participation.
By booking or using the sauna or cold plunge at Serenity Wellness Centre, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this waiver.
2. General Booking Terms

All appointments must be booked in advance unless stated otherwise (e.g., same-day openings).

A valid contact number and/or email address must be provided at the time of booking.
3. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
-
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes.
-
Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a late cancellation fee.
-
No-shows will be charged the full session fee.
-
For specific services, cancellation fees are outlined in the relevant waiver.
4. Gift Vouchers & Packages
-
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless stated otherwise.
-
Packages are non-transferable and non-refundable unless required by law.
-
Expired vouchers and unused package sessions cannot be redeemed.
5. Safety & Conduct
-
Clients are expected to behave respectfully towards staff and other guests at all times.
-
Serenity Wellness Centre operates a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of inappropriate, sexual, abusive, or offensive behaviour.
-
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who appears to be under the influence of drugs/alcohol, displays inappropriate behaviour, or poses a health/safety risk.

Certain services may not be suitable for individuals with specific health conditions — please disclose all relevant medical information prior to treatment.
6. Privacy Policy

At Serenity Wellness Centre, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ). We are committed to protecting your information and being transparent about how we use it.
